a short screen delay setting while working on projects?

monitor trouble. I get kicked off and back to log on
screen before I have had a chance to think it seems, if I
do not touch the mouse of keyboard. does anyone know
where and how to change this setting?

right click on the desktop, select properties, go to the screen saver tab,
and change the timing of the screen saver. Alternately, you can uncheck the
option to have it bring you back to the welcome screen.
