can't boot xp (lost file: window\system32\config\system)

Hi all,

I encounter problems in my XP, while I boot up the
system say:

can't boot xp (lost file: window\system32
\config\system) , try recover
using boot disk then press "r"...etc.


I don't know how to fix it, so I format the HDD and
install XP again,
however, the same problems happen again and again....how
comes?

any method to fix this kind of problems? pls help.,

Hi Gigi,

Go to Recovery Console and type:

cd system32\config
ren system system.old
ren system.alt systemalt.old
copy c:\windows\repair\system
copy c:\windows\repair\regback\system
exit
