MSN Messenger Display Name

When I get into Tools/Options/Display Name of MSN
Messenger, it does not allow me to change my name as
others see it. Instead, it has my email address followed
by (E-mail Address Not Verified) and it is not
highlighted or changeable. Does it take a certain amount
of time before you're allowed to change your display
name? Must you have a hotmail email address to be able
to change your display name? Am I doing something else
wrong??? Please help!!

Greetings,

You can only change your display name when your e-mail address has been verified. Within 48
hours of signing up for a Passport you'll be sent a verification e-mail, all you need to do
is click the verification link within this e-mail and your account will then be verified.

If you never received the verification email, you'll need to request another one from
Passport Services:
http://register.passport.net/contactus.srf
