View Full Version : Can I hide user accounts from the welcome screen?

Hi,

I am developing for CMS server on my PC, and this includes having 10-14
extra user accounts on my computer.

I want to still have the password protection, and if possible the welcome
screen.

Is there a way to hide these program-access-only accounts from my welcome
screen?

Thanks,

Morten

I think TweakUI has this facility?

Morten,

You can keep your account name from appearing in the list of accounts by =
following any of these methods:

1. Click Start, Run and type regedit.
2. Navigate to the following registry key:
[HKEY LOCAL =
MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersio n\Winlogon\SpecialAccou=
nts\UserList]
3. Right click an empty space in the right pane and select New | DWORD =
value.
4. Name the new value exactly the same as your user account.
5. Double click the new value and set the data value to 0.=20
6. Close the Registry Editor and reboot the computer to apply the =
change.=20

NOTE: To "unhide" the account, repeat these steps and set the data value =
to 1.

(Or)

Download PowerToys from here:-

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

Instal TweakUI from that.

Run TweakUI and click on the "LogOn" itme near bottom left side of
window.

Untick users that you don't want to appear at logon welcome screen
