Hello,

I have win98se on a machine and we have just bought a full copy of XP Pro.

What is the way I upgrade so I don't lose my shortcuts etc.

Thanks

Suzanne

Before any major change to your system, create copies of any files that you
do not want to lose: personal files, updates and program setup files.

You have the retail copy of the Full version of XP? If yes, insert the
WinXP cd to bring up its initial screen. Run the Upgrade Advisor program
found under "Pick a task." This will advise you of most hardware and
software trouble spots in the proposed update. J

ust thought of something... If this tool is not on the Full CD (it might
not be because it *is* the full version), you can download it here:

Take care of anything the Upgrade Advisor notes as a problem. Then start XP
setup from within Win98SE. Select the upgrade option. Follow the onscreen
prompts to complete the install.
