search window wont go away

Every time I double click a folder...any folder, Windows
xp pro wont open the folder. It opens the "search
window". the only way I have been able to open a folder
is to, right click and select "open". This gets very
annoying. Can anyone help me change this????

in Start Run and repeat if you edit folders in the file types dialog.
