Help! My computer shuts down without warning.

Can anyone please help. My computer shuts down without
warning. It happens at various times. In addition, I've
had problems with installing Windows XP service pack 1
and performing the Norton 2004 preinstall scan.

The Windows service pack 1 displays the
message,"Installation failed","Access is denied".

During the Norton Scan my computer shuts down.

When I attempt to restart the computer sometimes it will
restart and others times it will begin to boot up then
shut down.

Disable Norton while installing SP1.
