Got new PC with XP and tried using "File & Settings
Tranfer Wizard" to move files to new PC (from old with
Windows 98 -V2)using "Null Serial Modem Cable" as
suggested. Everything looked good, for a few hours, with
the Wizard reporting: "Estimate 12:22:33 to go.", then
nothing changed for 12 hours (appeared hung-up). I tried
again, but same result. Have now transfered "My
Documents" on floppies and "OE address book" manually,
but cannot find (directory address, etc.)for all my OE
files and folders. Even if I could, how could I
transfer, except on floppies (have no CD-R on old PC)?
Anyone know how to get files transferred successfully
using the Wizard? Thanks.

If you opt for the export function to get back your address book and
e-mails, the process prompts you to create a file and pick a location..
having done this for both, either copy the new files to floppy if large
enough or a CDR, and then import them from whichever copy media that you
have used..

Hi Tom:

Temporarily remove the hard drive from your old PC, set it's jumper as a
slave, then temporarily install it in your new PC. Then simply copy all
desired files.

Another method. Create a Local Area Network (LAN) using a category 5
crossover cable connected to a Network Interface Card (NIC) in each PC.
Enable file sharing. Then copy the desired files from your old PC to your
new PC. See www.practicallynetworked.com for LAN details.
