View Full Version : dial up connection problem

After restoring Windows XP Prof. My dial up modem
connection is not working. When I try to create a new
connection through the wizard, I get to the "connect with"
page, the dial up modem and broadband options are dimmed
(not available). This happened to a friend who said it has
to do with the service pack 1 being installed on my hard
drive and there is a registry edit which will fix this
problem. Do you know what it may be.
Thanks

following behaviors:
The Connect using a dial-up modem option in the New Connection Wizard is
unavailable (appears dimmed).
The Connect using a broadband connection that requires a user name and

Hi Ed,

Have you tried "Method 2" also?

If yes, check if this MSKB helps:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;329441

Deleting keys 25 & 26 in registry.

Kelly has a registry fix at line 87, left "Dialup modem... is
unavailable".
