my pc is driving me mad,my friend who is an it engineer
built it for me. since putting in a upgrade of new
motherboard, xp chip 2ghz, and 512 mem ddr it hasnt been
the same. what ever i do on it now it will reset when it
wants to no matter what. the it engineer thought it would
be the modem driver, changed it but no good.in the event
viewer it always says that its rebooted from a bug check.
any one had this prob before?

After upgrading that many components, especially the motherboard, you need
to do a repair install of XP to have it redetect the hardware.

Try out this work around:

Log on to the host computer as either an administrator or the owner.
1.. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2.. Click Performance and Maintenance under Pick a category.
3.. Click System under the or pick a Control Panel icon section.
4.. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Settings under Startup and
Recovery.
5.. Click to select following check boxes under System Failure:
a.. Write an event to the system log
b.. Send an administrative alert
and remove the check mark for Restart.

Goto the Event Viewer and check out the program name causing the problem and
reply to this mail with the exact name.

Also, enable error reporting feature

Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
1.. Click Performance and Maintenance under Pick a category.
2.. Click System under the or pick a Control Panel icon section.
3.. Click the Advanced tab, click error reporting.and enable error
reporting feature for windows and programs
4.. Once the error appears click the link " click hear to learn more", in
the resulting window checout for the modName nad write it to back.
