Windows Messenger annoying

Every time I connect to the internet I am getting a pop
up offering a new version of Windows messenger. How do I
get rid of this annoying pop up?

Why not turn off MSN Messenger completely, or better yet, uninstall it if
you do not use it at all?

Well you could do the upgrade. :) Or, you could turn Windows Messenger =
off completely. If you are going to run it, then you should stay =
current with newest builds as they sometimes address security issues. =
If you don't want to run it, open it up, go to Tools/Options, =
Preferences tab, and uncheck the box that has Windows Messenger start =
when Windows starts.
