When you reply to a post what is the difference between "Reply" and "Reply
To Group" ? As far as I can see, "reply" sends an e-mail to the person who
posted and "reply to group" post's to the newsgroup. Is this correct ? I'm
new to using outlook express as my newsreader so could you please explain
how to set it up with a fake e-mail address to prevent all the spam that you
get when using your actuall address.
Thanks , Vince

Vince, you're exactly right about Reply and Reply to Group. The general rule
in these newsgroups is to Reply to Group so that all can benefit from the
experience and advice being offered, since many have the same questions.

As far as setting up a anonymous reply address, in OE go to
Tools>Accounts>click the News tab>highlight the news account and click
Properties. There you can put in the name and email address you want to be
seen as the reply address. Welcome to the groups.

Thanks Tom,Actually I've been to the newsgroups many times
but just started viewing them thru OE because of the
recent problems with viewing them thru IE.I'm just hoping
that more people will read this and learn how to use fake
e-mail addresses because of the spamming that's been going
on with the users of this group. Thanks Again!

You may also be interested to know that Google Groups archive all the Usenet
newsgroup conversations, which you can search at http://groups.google.com
and so even more people can benefit from the advice and experience on offer.
Google Groups is my most frequently visited website in all of webland.
