When I open my folders with pictures, the icons start to open for view and then there's a windows explorer error and the folder shuts before I can view anything

Check the eventlog and see if there is any explorer.exe error recorded. =
You may post the log here.

Workaround: Change the folder view to Details as soon as you open the =
folder.
