View Full Version : LOST BACKUP

This morning, I accidentally and stupidly deleted the entire contents
of a disk that my computer calls "D: Backup. For some reason, I though
that I was deleting a floppy. Unfortunately, there was only one folder
on the disk (and 4 files), and I don't remember it's name. I was
prompted to OK the deletion, even though the message said "This folder
is too large for the recycle bin - would you like to permanently
delete it". I said OK, and therefore the folder is not in my Norton
recycle bin.

Are the contents on this disk important? Can I get them elsewhere or
recover them somehow? What consequences will I face without this
folder? Please help. Thanks a lot.

Hi,

Did your system come preinstalled?
Was there no Restore disks included?

If the answer to both of these is "yes", then there is a chance that you
deleted the recovery files for the system - the ones you will need to
reinstall everything if something goes horribly wrong. Check your system
documentation to confirm this. If this is the case, you may need to contact
the manufacturer to obtain a recovery disk set.

Otherwise, only you can tell us what was on that drive.
