View Full Version : System Restore

I am using windows XP OE6 ,(High speed internet) and
recently did a system restore on advice from someone
else, because for some reason it took about 30 min to get
from the welcome page to where I can actually click to
open a program. Then sometimes it would just freeze.
The question I have is why can I only do a system restore
for the present month and unable to go back to previous
months?

Open System in Control panel and have a look in System Restore tab. This can
be set at a max of 12% of available hard drive space. So if you have not got
a lot of available space or it is set at a low % it will not have the
capacity to information for older restore points. Hope this helps

Restore points are not kept indefinitely. Yes, space has something to do
with it, but older ones are purged every 60 days or so, or when you run disc
clean up. I have just checked mine and I can go back six weeks now (but, of
course, we're only halfway through October, so I might be lucky and have 2
months to choose from by the end).

That answers it for me as I did a disk cleanup that was
recommended due to some problems I had. Thanks very much
