I have searched the forum but found nothing like the issue
I have, so experts please feel free to jump in. . .

Whenever I start a voice conversation I get about two
seconds of two way voice then my pc locks up and I need to
re-boot. Any ideas what is happening and what to do about
it?

Greetings Ian,

What you're usually describing is some sort of issue with your audio drivers (assuming you're
just using your soundcard). You may want to visit WindowsUpdate
(http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com, after scanning, click Drivers on the left) and update to
the latest drivers for your soundcard.

Alternatively you can simply go to whoever make your sound card/on-board sound website and
look for newer drivers there.

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for the fast reply!

I will update the drivers on the two machines I'm testing
with.

My only question is why AOL IM works fine but Windows
Messenger doesn't if it is about the AC97 drivers?

Cheers,

Ian
