Just installed Windows XP SP1a and I am trying to install
MGI videowave 4 software. XP will not let me install the
software because it does not have the indeo codec
installed. Ligos website charges for the codec, can I
get it through Microsoft, or anywhere else, for free?
Thanks,
Marland

Do a Google search for IV5SETUP.EXE - that is the name of the free Indeo
drivers. The one I have is dated 01 Jan 01 but is over 2Mb in size so it's
too large to send via e-mail.

Use add new hardware wizard. In hardware list select "add new hardware
device". Choose to manually select hardware from list. Select "sound,
video and game controllers". Click "have disk" and enter the path to your
SYSTEM32 folder, e.g. C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32, in the "copy files from:" dialog
box. Click OK. Now you should see a list of "models:" that include Indeo
codec by Intel. Select it and click Next. Follow the instructions to
complete the installation.
