I am just starting to use Windows XP. I have spell check
on Microsoft works, but not on Outlook Express. Anyone
have an idea how I may get it to work. Thanks Roy

See if this post by Kelly has any bearing on your problem. The post to which
she is responding is below hers.
"If you have Word or Works installed, follow these directions:
Go to Start/Run/EXPAND X:\i386\CSAPI3T1.DL_ C:\CSAPI3T1.DLL (Where X is your
CD-Rom drive letter). And then copy it to: Program Files\Common
Files\Microsoft Shared\Proof
Or download the file here: Replace the Csapi3t1.dll file
http://www.tech-pro.co.uk/howto_010.html
An error occurred while the spelling was being checked.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q224176
Checkpoint: Go to Start/Run/Regeditand navigate to this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools
In the right pane where it reads: SharedFilesDir, verify that it reads:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared under Data.

First launch OE and go to Tools->Options. Do you have a Spelling Tab. If so
ensure the option to enable spellchecking is checked on.
Do you have Microsoft Word installed with Works? OE can not use the
spellchecker from "Microsoft Works" (the application) but if your Works
Suite (for example Works 2003) includes Microsoft Word then OE can borrow
the spellchecker from that application. If not you can use a free speller
from here that will integrate into OE http://www.geocities.com/vampirefo/

Dear Harry,
the spell check of Works 7 can be used for OE with the correct registry
settings. have a look at the file attached. It contains the setting for a
few countries. Be careful with the reigsitry!
Erik.

I have MS-Works v6.0 (OEM), and the spell checker works just fine with
OE.
