Hello,

Desperate to find a solution to this weird problem in my Windows XP
Professional laptop( Dell Inspiron 5150 ).

This is a new laptop and I vaguely remember that somewhere I chose to
auto-login to one id( which actually has adminstrative priveleges ).

Now when I boot my laptop, it automatically logs in to this id, but I
would like it, to stop and ask for id, that I can chose. At this point,
I do've another ( default ) id 'guest' in this laptop.

But how to disable the auto-login feature or change it to ask login
information ?

Thanks.
K-man.

Hi Cozmo,

Answered in windowsxp.help_and _support....repeated here:

start/run 'control userpasswords2'

Check the line that requires users to logon with a valid name and password.

Please, do not repeatedly ask the same question in multiple groups, it just
makes more work for those of us trying to help.
