Rename the folder windows\system32\catroot2 and reboot. That will
generate a new, clean folder, and you can then delete the renamed one.

Make sure that you have the firewall enabled to keep Blast out. before
ever connecting to the net. Network Connections, r-click the
connection; Properties - Advanced, click the Protect my system box.

Then start with SP1 and then the cumulative security patch, Q826939

Then Q817287 which is the cure for the catroot problem:
