View Full Version : active in taskbar...

I have a program that appears active on the taskbar but I
cannot get it to show up on the screen. I've tried
restoring it, restarting the computer, doing Alt+Tab,
cascading the windows...still it doesn't show up...

What should I do?

Thanks.

Hi,

That is the Notification Area/System Tray, not the Taskbar.

No it is not. It is the taskbar. I am not speaking about
the little volume thing in the system tray but the actual
volume control, also assessible by going to
Start->Programs->Assessories->Entertainment->Volume Control.

Anastasia,

The volume control in the taskbar notification area (ther one you call =
the "little volume thing") is one and the same. IF you double click on =
the volume icon in the notification area, you would get the same result =
as going to the path you specified. Kelly's help is valid.

How many volume icons do you have next to the clock? I have one, in =
which one click, will open a basic volume adjuster. If I double click =
it, I get the same thing I get in the path Anastasia posted. If I choose =
properties, I get the "Sound And Audio DeviceProperties" applet.

Ok, I guess I am wrong, though I can do this here!

Nope. Take another look at that little icon you call a "simple
volume control." Try double-clicking it or right-clicking it and
choosing "Open Volume Control." You get the same window with five
controls and speaker balancing. These are simply two different
views of the same thing--one full, the other greatly simplified.

The problem, as I understand it, is that if 'Volume control' is in the task
bar nothing happens when she clicks on it
To put the volume control in the task bar, start--all
programs--accessories---entertainment--volume control. Then minimize it.
