system . Under the General Tab it says my computer is
registered to and my name is mispelled how do I change
this without losing any programs or restoring system?

Well if you don't know or can't correct it, just write it on a piece
of paper and use it all the time. No big deal. Then take a course in
spelling! Your own name, you mis-spelled. No more comments are needed! :-(

Hi, I just tried that as when I reinstalled my XP I only typed in my
Christian name instead of my full name. I have followed the instructions
and then rebooted but when I go to System - General Tab it still says
Registered to Lynn. It hasn't altered.

Search for the misspelled name in the registry and change it there.
