View Full Version : Windows Update?

I have allowed Microsoft to install several updates and patches in the year
since I purchased my PC. Is there a way I can save the ones downloaded and
applied to CD? If I ever had to reinstall XP it could take forever to
download all the patches on a slow dialup connection again. Is there a
folder structure that is automatically created and populated with the update
downloads? How would I reapply all the patches after I have done a
reinstallation of Windows XP?
thanks

You can download them from the Windows Catalog.

That would be downloading them again which I was hoping to avoid. Windows
Update indicates I can download the files and install them latter. I would
think that means it stores them on my hard drive somewhere. Does it delete
the download file after I install it? Can I capture the downloads and save
them for use later and avoid the download again?

They do not get saved on your hard drive for later use. If they didnt get
deleted for some reason they would be in a folder named WUTEMP.
