When reinstalling XP home over XP home with SP1, the error
message "the procedure entry point GetIUMS could not be
located in the dynamic link library MSDART.DLL"
I understand that XP overwrites the msdart32 file,
renaming it msdart, thereby blocking continuation of the
installation.
If the file is modified "manually" (by 'ren'), the next
time XP starts to "complete" the installation, the same
error occurs.
Neither file is referenced in the KB (what are you doing
about this, MS?) - can anyone help (other than having to
do a clean install)? Thanks.

If you're installing Home without SP1 on top of Home with SP1, have you
tried reinstalling SP1?
