Is their anyway of finding out what some of the processes are running in the
background, Ive brought up Processes in the Windows Task Manager and I
recognize a few of them but there's a few I'm not sure about, namely,

spoolsv.exe,
svchost.exe,
lsass.exe,
csrss.exe,
smss.exe,
ULCDRSvr.exe,
nvsvc32.exe,
dcfssvc.exe

Ive also got a few programs popping up on Zonealarm to which seem to cause
problems when I disallow them but I'm not entirely sure about,

Application Layer Gateway Service
DrWatson Postmortem Debugger
Generic Host Process for Win32 Services
Microsoft Application Error Reporting
Spooler Subsystem App

My internet connection seems to have slowed right down lately so am trying
to get to the bottom of it, Ive tried Virus Checking and Adawareing!

Topper,
having limited knowledge myself , I hesitate to allow anything to access the
internet from my system , unless I am able to identify it with certainty.
What I see in your post is a concern that these things are Viruses etc. ..
If that is the case, then use the link below to receive one on one
assistance in identifying and eliminating parasites from your system.

Then , after you are sure all parasites have been eliminated, you could come
back to these NGs and repost any additional questions.

Try going to google.com and do a search on those names. Many of those are
Windows programs.

Thanks, just had a quick look on the forum and managed to find a useful
website for listing all known processes and have since managed to get rid of
a couple which are supposedly awkward (namely an Nvidia driver helper and
Incredimail which is notorious for causing problems) hopefully when Ive got
more time I will read it a bit more. Im looking to learn a bit about the
registrys next to find out how to clean them up properly, Thanks again!

Well the main concern for me is just little things that happen which suggest
all is not well. For example my 'My Computer' Folder layout has changed to
just a standard list format, In IE I used to be able to use Ctrl + Enter to
fill in www and .com. I know it only sounds minor but it just makes me
wonder what is tampering with my system.
