Get Error in Classic Start Menu - Advance Option

I get an error mesg. as follows when i go to
Taskbar and StartMenu Properties-StartMenu-
ClassicStartMenu-CustomizeClassicStartMenu-Advance
Option to set my start menu Programs.

i.e.

The Path 'and Settings\<dir>\Start Menu' does not exist or
is not a directory.

I and my partner use Windows XP and somehow someday for
some fault my partner changed the registry and this thing
happened...:( stuck up...!!!

I would say that "" are missing around C:\DOCUMENTS AND
SETTINGS\{dirname}\START MENU. You should scan the Registry for all
references to that folder and check if they are in quotes.
