2.6 ghz p4 / 80 g seagate drive / xp home / drive 50%
full / defrag often / ran seagate utilities - reported
very good numbers " read and write etc" from dos but have
poor performance from windows xp. sequential read and
sequential write scores are around 19 megs per sec. (
very low) my work pc 1.6 ghz p4 does almost twice the
data. Solutions? Possible format etc?

Depending on your system (specifically, the chipset on your motherboard),
you may need to install chipset drivers from your computer (or motherboard)
manufacturer.
