Can I clean out my prefetch file and if so what happens?

Clean it out if you want. It will regenerate itself over the next few days.
Your computer might run a little slower until then. If you want my advice -
and even if you don't - you ought to find out what something does before you
delete it.

Rocky. Thanks for the reply. My computer seems to be working a bit slower
than it use to and I read somewhere tha the prefetch file may have too many
programs in it. I don't want to do anything that will make it even
slower.... Thanks again, Frank
