MY XP Home PC tunrs itself on everytime the Phone Rings

Hi there,

My PC keeps booting up when the phone rings (Win XP home,
P4 2.4ghz 512mb Ram, 40Gb hd, Internal 56k modem). I
have checked the fax software to ensure that it is not
set up to receive and checked all of the modem settings I
can think of.

Any suggestions?

Hi crashwuk,

Check your BIOS Setup for a "Wake On" setting (might be called "Wake on Ring
or Wake on Demand" or something similar) and disable it. Save Changes and
Exit BIOS Setup.
