Thanks for your suggestions. I did the Tweak Beep box,
installed the "restore the startup & shutdown sounds"
(still no sounds); installed the "Restore the System
Default Sounds" (still no luck); ran the HKEY_USERS
regedit recommendation (no sounds yet); finally did
the "Fix Ding.wav" file (guess what? still without sound-
-basic I mean). Rechecked everything I checked yesterday
and the day before. All other sounds are still blaring
away. I guess there's nothing else I can do. I'll just
have to live without my beeps & stuff unless you know of
something else that a novice can do. Thank you again for
your extensive suggestions. I appreciate it.
