unable to ftp through browser

I am unable to ftp using internet explorer. The ftp -
command options work. This makes me think it is a
setting. Please help.

What ftp site or sites have you tried? What happens when you try? What
errors do you get?

Try FTPing using an alternative FTP client, like SmartFTP
(http://www.smartftp.com)
