Where do I go (using XP Home Edition) to set the computer
to show all file extensions?

Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > View: uncheck "Hide extensions..."

Hi, Mary.
Control Panel | Folder Options, the View tab. Under Files and Folders,
uncheck the box for Hide extensions for known file types.
