lost search

about two weeks ago my wife let me have her PC with XP
o/s on it which she had upgraded from Win 2000.
I'm looking for a file on it and tried to use the search
a yellow triangle came up in a box saying (a file is
required to run search companion can not be found. you
may need to run set up.) i was going to reload XP but my
wife says that i may have problems with the registration
and may not get my PC running again have you any ideas
out there how i can get my search companion back without
loading XP again.

Hi,

Set control panel/folder options/view to see hidden and operating system
files.

Open Windows Explorer to C:\Windows\Inf, locate the srchasst.inf file,
right-click it and choose "install". It should resolve the problem.
