Can't compress files

I've been able to zip files before (using Windows XP),
now, when I try to compress a file, I get the following
error message:

COMPRESSED (ZIPPED) FOLDER ERROR:
"Cannot create out-put file"

I'm talking about a 4.5MB application file. Could
someone suggest what has become corrupted and how to fix
it?

How, EXACTLY, are you setting out to
compress this file??
Right-Click 'Send to' 'Compressed (zipped)
folder'...

Do you have a file compression program
(e.g. winzip etc) installed, or have you ever
installed one??

Have you tried:
Start>Run 'regsvr32 zipfldr.dll' ENTER??
