How I can change the default location to a .prn file in xp. How to I print to a difeferent directory rather than the default.

You have to specify a different HOMEPATH or specify the full path name to
the file.
Set HOMPATH = c:\whatever
realize that the default homepath is
HOMEPATH=\Documents and Settings\USERNAME
so changing this will also impact any other application that uses this.
