Cannot detect modem

I cannot get windowsxp to detect my modem, i've reinstalled the drivers &
rebooted all i get is ?pci modem in the device manager. Im using dsl for
inertnet access but need the modem for fax. Any help is appreciated.

delete the modem in device manager and reboot, it should
redetect and install the correct drivers.
