I was concerned about all my old games/programs too, but
you can find many modern ports enabling them to work on
XP if you just search around. I would reccomend a serious
upgrade in computer parts if you want to play modern
games though. Even on 98SE that is a pretty slow
computer.
XP is worth the price, and is very simple to learn. It
has way less bugs, is much more supported by modern
programs, and has much more adminstrative control and
tweaking abilities. I hope this helps.
