recently, my display settings options changed as follows:

"desktop" has been replaced by "themes." i have not been
able to get the desktop tab back. i suspect this may be
the result of some "maintenance" work by our IS folks, but
they deny making any deliberate modifications.

how can i get my desktop settings tab back?

Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Syst=
em

Look in the right pane for a value called NoDispBackgroundPage If it =
exists, its value should be 0 (zero). If not, double click the value =
and change it. If it doesn't exist, right click in a blank area of the =
right pane, select New, DWord value and name it NoDispBackgroundPage. =
Leave it at 0.
