I have two XP Pro boxes connected to a Linksys router, When displaying
Network Places, one displays my router and one does not. The rest of the
window of both PCs is what I expect. What makes one display the router and
the other one doesn't?

I have no idea. I've never seen a router (Linksys brand or otherwise)
show up in anybody's Network Neighborhood before, and I use a Linksys
router on my 8-box LAN (mixed os's) and have a lot of clients using
Linksys routers. Are you letting the router do dhcp? I guess the best
way for you to answer your question is to examine both your XP boxen,
setting by setting, and see what is different. Does everything work OK?

yes, it is doing dhcp. I thought it was the plug and play service, but
that's not it.

The only other thing I can think of is for you to check the master
browser settings on your boxen. I don't think the Linksys has one. I
just checked the settings for my Linksys and I don't see anything like
that. Again, I guess unless someone else has seen this, you're just
going to have to Sherlock the differences in your two boxen. You might
want to post this question on one of the MS networking groups. Here's a
link to all the MS newsgroups:

Good luck,
