Access to old user documents denied

Wonder if anyone can help?
Due to system file errors i was forced to re-install xp
without backing up.
All the files in my old documents folder are present but
innaccessible to me as a new admin user.
Is there anyway to free up these files or to re-create my
old admin. user profile to access them?
