My Compaq desktop has been acting strangely lately. Sometimes when I try to
open a new application or type in a new URL for Internet Explorer, the
system freezes. Sometimes I will get a "not responding" message, other
times I just get the hour glass. This lasts for about 30 seconds and then
everything is OK again. It only seems to affect a particular window. If I
have two IE windows open, one will freeze, but I can switch to the other (or
to another application such as Eudora) and they work just fine. The
computer is about 2 1/2 yrs old, has 1 ghz, 512 RAM and is running XP. I
had it into the shop a couple of weeks ago to fix some other problems, but
this one remains. Any suggestions?
