If you go to Windows Explorer and select Tools from the
menu and then folder options, there is a tab that says
file types. Here you can look for files of Doc type in
the Registered file Types: list select theis and then you
can change the details for DOC extension so that "files
of this type are opened with Microsoft Word. I hope it is
self explanatory when you get to the Folder options
