We don't know what came with your computer. The limited letter program =
built in is called wordpad. Start menu - All Programs - Accessories - =
Wordpad

Windows XP for Dummies is a good book (I don't care for the
titles, but the entire "Dummies" series are well written for
the new computer user)

Microsoft Works is a good entry level program... includes a
word processor, a spreadsheet and a simple database (keep
track of all your addresses, recipes, etc)
