Screen savers

I have a new xp package (Dec 2003) but the screen saver
program has stopped working and instead of a saver on the
screen the machine hangs up. I have to ctrl.alt.delete to
start up again. It worked ok for about a month.
I could take the machine back to my supplier but it is a
pain in the teeth having to disconnect all the plugs.
I have tried reinstalling via the cd disc but to no avail.
Is there a patch I can get by e mail to insert into my
windows?
Please advise.
