Hi
With XP and a single CD-R CD-RW combi drive, what is the best way to copy a
CD to another CD ?
I am posting on behalf of a PC newbie friend who has just bought a PC with
XP, as I am not familiar with XP myself.
I do not think any specific CD writing software is installed, but I beleive
XP has its own - is that correct ?
Thanks
Del

OK with burning files to cd and also know all about Easy CD creator.
I just wanted to know what the built in mechanism is in XP for copying from
one cd to another (ie without installing anything else)

Try this:
Copy the CD to a file on your hard disk, then copy the file to another CD.

First, create a new folder on your CD. I have a catch-all folder labeled
HOLDTEMP. After you insert the CD you want copied into your CD-RW drive,
select all the folders/files on the CD and click on the left panel to move
the selected items to your HOLDTEMP folder. Remove your original CD and put
a blank one in its place, then copy all the folders/files to the blank CD.
AFAIK, there is no comand to "Copy CD" in WinXP, as there is a "Copy Disk"
in Win95, for example.
I may be out of my depth here, but I'm sure there are MVPs on this ng who
can give you correct information.

Explorer usually, right click the CD icon and select Explore,
the with the files shown on disc, select contents of CD, then select
Edit, Copy, create a new folder, open folder, select Edit, Paste
then select 'Write contents to CD' in explorer window.
