ALT Key

I have transfered info from a word doc to an excel csv
file. Some of the characters in word are not recognized
in excel csv. Therefore I have the codes (example ALT
034 equals the " sign). This works fine on my PC with a
key board; however it doesn't work on my laptop. Any
suggestions on how I can get the ALT + code to function
on my laptop? thanks

You've enabled the numberpad on the laptop's keyboard? (The numbers in the
top row won't produce the ALT codes.)
