My program for burning CD's doesn't function anymore
after the upgrade to XP. Can anyone recommend a reliable
program for burning CD's?

Your failure to detail the make and version of burning software sounds like
bait for an invalid answer to me.

Obviously burner software is very hardware oriented. Because of this, it's
not unusual to have to reinstall it after switching to a new operating
system. Check with the software vendor first to see if their software will
work with XP "as is" or if you need to add updates. In some cases an
entirely new version is needed.

NOTE: XP includes cd burning but it does not support packet writing. Most
folks install a third party burning program for this and other burning
features.
