Symantec: Scan engine returned error 0x20000058

On 31 Oct, I recieved a load of pop-up's that Symantec had found
worms...I deleted everything everything in quarantine. Now I get this
message and I can't scan...I even deleted it and reinstalled the
program ... what happened? --George
