WinXP glitch

I seem to have corrupted WinXP,as I get lockups in XP and
in other programs(Agent,ACDSee).I need to reload
WinXp,and want to backup Address Book and Favorites.My
Accessories does not have Backup,and I am at a loss how
to proceed.Also ,I do not have my License #.My computer
is a Gateway,and the program was factory loaded.How do I
get the number.Gateway is not at all helpful.TIA,Jerry
