View Full Version : Sent To Printer status

I have an XP Pro workstation which prints to a networked
HP LaserJet 4100. After the job prints, the queue status
displays as "Sent To Printer" and remains in the queue
until it is either manually deleted or until the PC is
booted, at which time every job in the queue prints again.

I have gone through my printer properties with a fine
tooth comb and can find nothing set that would request
this result. No other PCs printing to this printer
experience any such problem.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

disable Bidirectional on the Printer Properties Ports tab. The HP driver
has a bug but the last time I check hp.com they had not posted the fix.
I'll ping the HP driver developers again and see what's up.

Alan,

Your reply below to the problem originally stated may finally be the answer
to a problem that's plagued just one workstation in our office for a couple
weeks now.

In our environment, all printers are HP LaserJets and include a black &
white 5000 and 8100, and color 4500 and 4550, all networked with static IP
addresses and reached from individual workstations and their spools.

I'm having the documents stuck in the spool with the "Sent to Printer"
status and reprinting on a reboot on only one single WinXPPro workstation
and with ONLY ONE of its several HP printers. If I remove the offending
printer, the problem seems to move to another printer on the PC, but
unpredictably as to which one. No other workstations (XP Pro or 2000 Pro)
have the issue.

I believe the problem started right after a round of Windows Update updates
that included new drivers for a LaserJet 2200 that is actually installed in
the PC user's home and used only in Remote Desktop sessions.

Sound similar enough to be the bug you described, which is alleviated by
disabling bidirectional support?

Have you heard anything from the HP driver developers? Do you have a
reference to the issue on HP's Web site?

Thank you,,
DukieDallas
